Subject: Grammar / Spanish beginners
Date: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Class: 9th grade
Ages: 14 - 15 years old.
Time: 2:10 pm to 3:00 pm (50minutes)
Topic: Subject Pronouns in Spanish
Goals:
Students will understand the use of Subject Pronouns in Spanish.
Objectives:
Students will: Identifying Singular and plural pronouns in Spanish.
Singular Plural
Yo = I Nosotras, Nosotros
Tu = You ( informal) Vosotros, Vosotras = You (informal in Spain)
Usted = You (formal) Ustedes = You
El = He Ellos = They (masculine)
Ella =She Ellas = They (feminine)
Materials and Equipment:
Flash cards, software, PowerPoint, work sheets, textbook, and YouTube videos (senor Jordan.com)
Procedures:
Warm up: write the subject pronouns in Spanish and English on the whiteboard.
1. Demonstrate the use of subject pronouns with examples in English, written on the board and verbally. For example, Maria studies Spanish. They speak Spanish.(10 min.).
2.. Do the same example projected on the smart board in Spanish. For example, Maria studia Espanol. Ellos hablan Espanol (10 min.).
3. Teach the subject of pronouns from the text book. (20 min.).
a. Model pronunciations say and repeat.
b. Model using by pointing to myself and other students.
4. Students will practice by doing the textbook exercises or other written exercises. (10 min.).
Evaluation:
1. Grading the assignment in class.
2. Check comprehension by asking student to identify who represents the particular Subject pronouns.
3. Next two day, give a quiz about the subject pronouns in Spanish.
Extra-Class Work:
Watch YouTube videos (Senor Jordan.com).
This lesson uses combinations of approaches the Audio-lingual, TPR, and Grammar translation. In this lesson the Audio-lingual will consist in the description of the two languages ex. She/ Ella. With the approach of Total Physical Respond, the students respond to commands that require physical movement ex. The teacher will point to herself and ask the students what subject pronouns she trying to represent. With Grammar translation the students have to repeat after the teacher the subject pronouns to practice pronunciation.
