Philosophy
I believe that developing a curriculum around student’s interests helps to foster student motivation and stimulate the passion to learn. This also provides students with access to hands-on activities and allows them to work at their own pace, a pace in which the students enjoy the learning process. Although students need to have choices as part of the learning process, they also need boundaries and an overall direction to guide them. I believe every child has the potential to bring something unique to the learning process, which if used effectively can also help other students to learn. Every classroom presents distinctive communities of learners that vary in learning styles and abilities. As a teacher we have to listen and communicate with our students - when the voice of each student is heard then environment is built on trust. Also, teachers need to provide meaningful, relevant information that will
be useful to students, as well as demonstrate appropriate behavior to students by encouraging diversity and accepting differences. I believe that we learn from the children in our classroom, and in this way we can prepare ourselves to become better teachers.
